Hand woven shawls and wraps by Curcuma Textile Studio

My name is Cristina Martinez and I make hand woven shawls, wraps and other textile pieces. I’m Spanish and I graduated from the school of Art and Design in textile techniques, in Zamora, Spain. I’ve been working with textiles since 1998 and I love it! I keep discovering new designs, artists, techniques from this wonderful world of textiles that doesn’t stop growing and renewing.
I work with different textile techniques. Usually my speciality is hand woven shawls which I make using a loom but I also work with other techniques such as handmade wet felt, screen printing, silk painting, batik and shibori.
I use different types of fibres such as wool, cotton, linen, silk and I also mix to achieve different textures that will have an attractive result.
It is very important for me to apply the theory of colour and mix different fibres to obtain a unique and personalised result in every design. So that all my hand woven shawls are one-off pieces.
From inspiration to concept to design editing, this process begins from an idea, any detail can be used as inspiration. All my designs are unisex, designed for any person who likes to feel attractive and comfortable with a clothing item as flattering as a hand woven shawl or scarf, this will become the perfect detail to improve your wardrobe at any time. My goal is to offer my clients an original design with quality materials.
This will respect the environment as I only use natural materials, and all of this contributes to my own unique style.
