John is based in Edinburgh and has been creating photographic images for over ten years.
He has been guided by a number of photographers and artists including Ray Bidegain (USA) and Trevor Yerbury (Scotland) and his portfolio is inspired by a passion for the landscape, portraiture and the human figure.
Photographs give a ‘portal’ to a moment that inspired the photographer and can evoke a range of emotions – whether that is a serene seascape or an expression in a portrait that raises a smile.
John’s landscapes are intended to capture the ‘essence’ of what we see when looking at a scene and his portraits and figures celebrate the human spirit and reveal form, personality and grace. He works with natural and studio lighting using both digital and large format film cameras – each contributing something unique. John’s photographs have been exhibited during the Edinburgh International Festival and he values the personal connections made with collectors of his work.
We have framed prints, unframed mounted prints and greetings cards – of both landscapes and the figure – available in the Gallery now.
He welcomes commissions, whether of a favourite place or person. Please contact him directly to discuss a portrait or other commission.
We are delighted to expand the range and choice of our photographic offering with the addition of John’s work to the Gallery’s walls.
