In a new initiative for 2022 our Collectivist, artist Susan Smith, joins us in the Gallery every month to sketch and chat with interested customers.
Susan will be free form sketching, using ink and watercolour but is happy to answer questions on watercolour painting, oil painting, lino printing and tapestry weaving. The objective is to show just how easy it is to sketch anywhere, on any subject.
The event, which will last from 2 – 3.30 pm, is free of charge, with no need to book so please do pop in.
Collectivist in Residence Monday 4 July 2022
Scottish artist Susan Smith is a painter, printer, art tutor and founder of Greenpark Weavers. She was born and brought up on an Aberdeenshire farm where an extremely outdoor childhood fostered her deep love of the natural world.
Susan is an MFA graduate of Edinburgh College of Art & Edinburgh University and an Hospitalfield alumnus.
She is inspired by the natural world and is a keen observer of animal and bird behaviour and a keen supporter of conservation. She often sketches and paints outdoors before developing her work more fully in oils when back in the studio. In her printmaking practice she specialises in original linocut prints.
