Description

How many beautiful functional objects can you make from a square piece of glass? Our Collectivist Irina Stancheva, 523 Glass Studio (https://www.artcraftcollective.co.uk/artists/irina-stancheva-studio-523-fused-glass-artist/) is running a workshop to show you!

Come to this workshop to share your thoughts and find out what is achievable. You will have an opportunity to put your own ideas into practice while learning the basic techniques and approaches in fused glass.

Kilnformed or fused glass enables individual pieces of glass to be transformed into a single object when put together and heated to high temperature in a kiln. Depending on the temperature used, different textures and other interesting visual effects can be achieved. Furthermore, placing the glass into a mould or on a prop can produce three-dimensional forms with varying complexity, depending on the function of the object.

In this workshop you will:

• learn the basics of fusing glass
• become skilled in cutting and decorating glass
• learn how to achieve desired textures and other effects
• make small glass objects of your own design or work on a predesigned project

Note that your creations will not be ready at the end of the workshop, but will be available to collect from the Art and Craft Collective gallery about a week after the workshop.

The workshop is suitable for beginners and children above 14 if accompanied by a parent. Tools, materials and refreshments will be provided, but please bring with you an apron and lunch if you are not planning to buy it in one of the nearby cafés.
